Ruaha National Park is my favorite wildlife area in Tanzania. It is not uncommon to drive through the park for hours and not see another vehicle. The game viewing is excellent, especially during the dry season. The terrain is rugged and beautiful. These photos are from my second trip to the park in October 2001. They are from scanned negatives or slides and were taken with Nikon equipment.
The Ruaha River Lodge is operated by Foxtreks Wildlife Safaris. They offer comfortable bandas along the Ruaha River.

When I think of Ruaha NP, the two animals I think of first are lions and elephants. The park has healthy populations of both. It was the place I first saw lions in the wild.
